Abstract Text Mobile devices revolutionized the way we communicate, consume information and last but not least: how we work. Studies and research in software engineering have shown, that tools can help in engineering better software and engaging people in collaborative tasks. This thesis aims to elaborate on possibilities of how mobile devices, specifically tablets, can support collaborative and distributed code reviews. To make sure the user experience remains simple and straight forward, a user interface concept is developed. This concept leads to a Windows 8 based prototype application called SyncReview. The application is evaluated and compared to a common method of collaborative code review. The evaluation shows that SyncReview provides clear benefits in conducting distributed code reviews synchronously in comparison to traditional tools.
Zusammenfassung Mobile Geräte revolutionieren die Art wie wir kommunizieren und Information konsumieren, insbesondere aber auch unseren Arbeitsplatz. Studien und Forschung in der Softwareentwicklung haben gezeigt, dass entsprechende Tools helfen können effizienter Software zu entwickeln und kollaboratives Arbeiten zu fördern. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, eine Möglichkeit aufzuzeigen wie mobile Geräte, im Speziellen Tablets, kollaborative und verteilte Code Reviews unterstützen können. Um sicherzustellen, dass die Endnutzererfahrung einfach und konsistent bleibt, wurde ein User Interface Konzept erarbeitet. Dieses Konzept wurde als Grundlage zur Implementierung eines Windows 8 basierten Prototypen namens SyncReview genutzt. Die Applikation wurde evaluiert und mit einer weit verbreiteten Methode für kollaborative Code Reviews verglichen. Die Evaluation hat gezeigt, dass der Prototyp Vorteile im Vergleich zu traditionellen Methoden bei synchronen und verteilten Reviews bietet.
