Abstract Text The topic of the bachelor thesis is: Communication challenges in distributed teams – exploring different types of feedback for supporting distributed teams in email communication. For the bachelor thesis, a study was conducted with three different condition groups. Participants were recruited from Canada and Japan. The participants were paired (one Canadian participant with one Japanese participant) and they had to solve a collaborative decision-making task. The three condition groups received either no feedback, only objective feedback, or objective and subjective feedback. The thesis explored what potential this feedback can have for participants. Additionally, possible opportunities for technology support and important aspects for the design of such tools are presented.
Zusammenfassung Das Thema der Bachelorarbeit ist: Probleme in der Kommunikation in verteilten Teams – Untersuchung von verschiedenen Arten von Feedback für die Unterstützung von Email Kommunikation in verteilten Teams. Für die Bachelorarbeit wurde eine E-Mail Studie durchgeführt mit drei verschiedenen Bedingungsgruppen. Es wurden Teilnehmer aus Japan und Kanada rekrutiert, welche jeweils im Team (ein Kanadischer mit einem Japanischen Teilnehmer) eine Entscheidungsfindung Aufgabe lösen mussten. Die drei Bedingungsgruppen erhielten entweder kein Feedback, nur objektives Feedback, oder objektives und subjektives Feedback. Es wurde untersucht, welches Potential solches Feedback haben kann für die Teilnehmer der Studie. Zusätzlich wurden Möglichkeiten für Technologie Support sowie wichtige Aspekte des Designs von solchen Support Tools vorgestellt.
