Zusammenfassung | Sensemaking is an established theoretical perspective in management and organization studies. Various studies draw on this perspective to examine sensemaking and sensegiving activities of leaders, external stakeholders and middle managers within organizational boundaries. However, sensemaking of external actors in inter-organizational contexts has not been investigated so far. This thesis responds to this research gap by examining the sensemaking activities of franchisees during an inter-organizational change initiated by the franchisor. Data is collected from multiple cases to show how franchisees make sense of a strategic change initiative in an inter-organizational setting. |
