Abstract Text | This article examines the impact of the leverage ratio on bank profits using quarterly data from 2017 to 2021. As an external shock, the COVID-19 epidemic can test the ability of banks to deal with risks. Using the OLS and GMM models, this paper concludes that bank profits will increase as the leverage ratio increases, and this conclusion will not change as the COVID-19 epidemic hits. In the short term after the shock arrives, the rate at which bank profits increase with the leverage ratio will become smaller. |
