Abstract Text Personal trainers provide their customers with individual sport trainings and often take over additional advisory and support activities (exercise, nutrition, mental training). Although the market for personal training is steadily growing, personal training still faces inefficient cost structures due to the large degree of one-to-one support. As a consequence, personal training remains unaffordable for a large part of the population. To improve the economic efficiency of personal training, a mobile IT tool for tablet computers was designed in the context of this thesis. Three main aspects are proposed and designed in order to support and improve personal training. (1) A computer-mediated personally adapted training should make autonomous training more attractive, personal, flexible and efficient and should allow to address a new target group of customers with a lower willingness to pay. (2) An integrated solution to customer advisory and customer anamnesis should improve the existing process in terms of attractiveness, ease and transparency. (3) A technology-based way of documentation should make it easier for trainers to record trainings and access data from previous trainings or anamnesis sessions when the need occurs. The tool was built by following a scenario-based design approach and was evaluated in a pilot test.
