Abstract Text | Netflix and its efforts to build a dominant streaming video platform have caused significant disruption in the US media industry. This thesis seeks to explore in what ways the business models of the incumbents are challenged and how this could impair their ability to create value in the future. After analyzing the threats, the paper shows, which companies are affected the most (the least) by the disruption and gives strategy recommendations on how to defend against the entrant. Additionally, the thesis provides reports on Disney and Charter Communications including their company-specific threats and opportunities incorporated into valuations. |
